St Demetrius Church, Vyzhnytsia (Chernivtsi Oblast)
I have indexed several records from northern Bukovina’s parish registers, specifically from Vyzhnytsia’s raion, also known as Vijnița, Wiznitz, or Вижниця. This small town was multi-ethnic: Jews, Romanians, Ukrainians, Germans, Armenians, and also other ethnicities lived in this town before WWII.
The parish registers studied are for orthodox people, so we find mostly Romanian or Ukrainian families even if the ethnicity delimitation isn’t clear: the same family can be found under a surname with a Ukrainian or Romanian terminology (i.e family’s name Romaniuk/Романюк can be found as Romaniek/Romanovici/Romaniok)
I could access these records thanks to familysearch, so you can find all the records on this site. My classification respects the description headings on their site. Just click on the name of the records to access them.
